Ashton Whitty and Asia Argento
Ashton Blaise Whitty was born on the 1st October 1995, in Berkeley, California, USA. She is an actor, known by her roles in Choices (2010), The Heart and Other Small Shapes (2006) as well as Chrissie Mayr's Content House (2022).
Asia Argento is an Italian actor and filmmaker born into an extended family. She has pursued both professions herself. When she made her debut, she was just nine years old young in the film of Sergio Citti, Sogni e bisogni In 1988 she starred as the main character in the debut film of Cristina Comencini, Zoo, and was part of the cast of The Church directed by Michele Soavi. Red Wood Pigeon, the film that she played Nanni Moretti's young daughter, was released a year later. But it was Close Friends by Michele Placido which saw Asia's acting career take off. The film received a great reception during the Cannes International Film Festival. Daria Argento, her mother and one of the actors who was a favorite of Argento's, Daria, played an anorexic teenager searching for the killer of their parents, in Trauma. Asia's intense and absorbed acting skills were put to good use in Giuseppe Piccioni's Condannato a nozze. In 1993, she was a co-star in Carlo Verdone's Perdiamoci di vista in which she was Arianna who was a physical challenged woman. This role was complex and challenging, earning her an award from David di Donatello as the most outstanding actor. The role she played was in Peter Del Monte's Compagna di viaggio with Michel Piccoli, which won her an award from David diDonatello along with the Grolla of Oro. Asia started her short film directing career in 1994. She also directed an episode for the movie De Generazione. 1996 saw her direct a documentary with the father of her. 1998 was the year she directed AbelAsia about the legendary filmmaker Abel Ferrara. This film received a prize from the Rome Film Festival. Asia was the director of her first feature film Scarlet Diva (1999), in which she was the actress leading the film as well as the writer of the screenplay. In May 2000, the movie became available to the public worldwide. The film won an distinction in Brooklyn at the Williamsburg International Film Festival.
