Antonina Shevchenko

Antonina (or Antonia) Shevchenko is an Kyrgyzstani Muay Thai fighter in the UFC's flyweight division. She is the younger sister of her fellow UFC fighter and the former UFC Flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko. Antonina Shevchenko started her journey into combat sports in the form of a Muay Thai kickboxer. Shevchenko made her debut in the IFMA World Championship Tournament of 2003. Shevchenko defeated Suzane McKell in the finals via a majority vote. Antonina continued to win with a silver-medal in 2007, a bronze in 2008 and a gold award in 2011, and was the 2016 IFMA Amateur Muay Thailand World Champion. Antonia was first introduced to the professional world in 2003. She won the WKC K-1 Light Welterweight World Championships in 2012, the Lion Fight Lightweight Championships in 2016 as well as both the WMC World Championships and the Phoenix FC World Championships 2016. Antonina has fought her last time against Isa Tidblad Keskikangas, in the Phoenix Fighting Championship. She won the fight via unanimity. Antonina Shychenko's first professional MMA debut was in 2002, during the KFK Cup in Kyrgystan when she faced Anara Bayanova. She won this fight by TKO after round 2 and the subsequent 2 matches were held at the WXF X-Impact World Championships. Shevchenko was forced to take a time off from MMA and focused on her kickboxing. Shevchenko made her comeback in 2017 with Anissa Diddaoui. Shevchenko defeated Anissa in a unanimously-decided match, and then she defeated Valerie Domergue in Phoenix FC 4. After leaving the league in 2018, Shevchenko joined Dana White's Contender Series. Shevchenko wrestled Jaimelene Nievera as part of Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. Antonina utilized superior strikes and striking skills to TKO Nievera by knees to her body while in the fight. After this win, Antonina was offered a UFC contract. Antonina made her UFC debut in the TUF Heavy Hhitters Finale, with Ji Yeon Kim. Shevchenko took victory in a unanimous decision, but she was defeated in her next fight by Roxanne Modafferi on a split decision. Antonina bounced back from the loss and defeated Lucie Pudilova in the UFC on ESPN Covington vs. Lawler via second-round rear-naked choke, and was awarded the fight of the night reward for the bout. Shevchenko was 1-2 over her next 3 fights. She defeated Ariane Lipski and lost to Katlyn Chokagian as well as Andrea Lee. Antonina has been defeated recently by Casey O'Neill via TKO at UFC Fight Night Santos-Walker.
