Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell has been a chef and television personality in the United States as well as an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She is host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network. Anne Burrell's Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant chef, with her trademark hairstyle and her pumped up personality, explains simple techniques that anybody can learn. Chef Burrell also has worked in several of the city's most prestigious restaurants, has learned about the Italian food and culture as well as was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a youngster, living in the the upstate area of New York, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. She pursued her love of working in the restaurant business by enrolment at The Culinary Institute of America following her graduation in English and Communication from Canisius College, Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was a fantastic experience. I was never able to study or accomplish enough. Following graduation at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners, Chef Burrell took a full year in Italy doing research and working at La Taverna del Lupo restaurant located in Umbria as well as La Bottega del 30 one Michelin star restaurant in Tuscany. The time she spent in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate the Italian tradition and philosophy, and this has left an impact on her own culinary perspective. Burrell was a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens children who are facing difficulties. She also serves as a Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation celebrity ambassador where she promotes the awareness of juvenile diabetes. She travels frequently around the nation in her capacity as both a mentor and an invited speaker, where she talks about her career and love of cooking. Anne has stated throughout her culinary career she's grateful to share with others what is truly important to her.
